Care, Framing & Display

Your print is made to be enjoyed for years to come. Proper framing, careful handling and suitable display conditions will help preserve its appearance and longevity.

1. Framing & Mounting

We recommend professional framing by a framer experienced in handling fine-art prints.

  • Choose suitable materials: Use archival-quality, acid-free and lignin-free mounting materials wherever appropriate.
  • Avoid direct mounting: Do not permanently glue the canvas directly onto MDF, untreated wood or other unsuitable surfaces. Use a suitable mounting system that protects the canvas from damaging adhesives and backing materials.
  • Choose the right framing method: The canvas may be stretched over suitable stretcher bars or framed flat, depending on your preferred presentation. Consult your framer about the appropriate method and the additional canvas allowance required for stretching.
  • Consider protective glazing: Glass or suitable acrylic can help protect the print from dust, smoke and accidental splashes. Ensure adequate separation between the glazing and the printed surface.
2. Care & Handling
  • Handle the print with clean, dry hands, avoiding unnecessary contact with the printed surface.
  • Unpack and unroll the canvas carefully, keeping sharp objects away from the print.
  • Avoid creasing, folding, excessive bending or repeatedly rolling and unrolling the canvas.
  • Do not use water, solvents, alcohol, household cleaners or abrasive cloths on the printed surface.
  • Clean the frame and glazing separately, ensuring that moisture does not reach the canvas.
  • If the print becomes stained, scratched or damaged, consult a qualified framer or print conservator rather than attempting repairs yourself.
3. Display & Environment
  • Avoid direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and intense light can cause fading. UV-filtering glazing can provide additional protection but cannot eliminate all light-related deterioration.
  • Protect from heat and moisture: Keep the print away from flames, hot lights, steam, damp walls, condensation and areas with excessive humidity.
  • Take care in puja rooms: Incense smoke, oil-lamp soot, heat, water splashes and moisture can affect the print. If displaying it in a puja room, use suitable protective glazing and keep it safely away from flames, smoke and splashes.
  • Choose a suitable location: A clean, dry, well-ventilated indoor environment with relatively stable conditions is best for long-term display.
4. Storage & Longevity

If framing is not possible immediately after delivery, keep the print in its protective packaging in a clean, dry place, away from sunlight, heat, moisture and heavy objects. Arrange professional framing as soon as practical and avoid prolonged storage in a rolled condition.

The longevity of a fine-art print depends on its materials, printing process, framing, light exposure, humidity and handling. Appropriate framing and careful display help preserve its appearance, but no print is completely immune to ageing or environmental damage.
